2008 According to Uncle Jay

Coming Soon to a Calendar Near You!

on Thursday, December 25, 2008
Now that Christmas is over we should expect some of the over-the-top non-believer crowd to complain about how terribly abused they've been through yet another Christian holiday.

It must be simply awful for them after all; what with all that "Peace on Earth" business and happy people seemingly everywhere you looked.

The poor dears must be near nervous breakdowns from all the stress.

Wait till they notice what comes next!

2009 A.D.

The "A.D." stands for the Latin, "Anno Domini" or "Year of Our Lord"; as it will be 2009 years since the birth of Jesus Christ.

This of course means every time anyone in the western world writes a date that can be understood by anyone else, they'll have to use `2009' which is a sneaky way by which we wily Christians simply refuse to extract ourselves from public life.

Good heavens we must be awful!

Famous Leftist Blogger now Crisco Certified!

Bob Adams, the famous leftist blogger known as "Connecticut Bob" has been certified in Crisco.

It's unclear just what one does with such a certification; but you can read more about it here: Passed Crisco Certification!

Humorless lefty blog types please note: I like Bob, often despite himself.
However, he is among the few on the left with any sense of humor at all, or for that matter, any sense.

Sears

on Monday, December 15, 2008
Did you get the email?

You've probably seen this in an email or two over the past few years and ignored it.

"I assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up...

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution.

I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

Pass it on."

Well it's true!

Go ahead and check it out with urbanlegands or snopes.

I figured it was time to put my money where my mouth is, so I stopped in at the West Hartford, CT Sears store.

Sears remains a decent retailer, carrying quality goods that they stand behind.

What surprised me was the condition of the West Hartford location.

It was spotless, the floor in the hardware department downstairs was easily as clean as anything one might expect in a hospital operating room.

In fact the entire store shined.

While my wife was across the street braving Westfarms Mall, I browsed around in one of the oldest Sears locations in this part of the United States.
Five times in the hour or so I spent, Sears sales associates politely said; "Good afternoon sir - can I help you find anything?"

Quality goods at surprisingly competitive or better prices.
Spotlessly clean store.
Attentive, courteous employees.

This Christmas Season, let's all shop at Sears.
No reason not to, and we should be supporting a company of their caliber.

6 myths about the Detroit 3

BY MARK PHELAN • FREE PRESS COLUMNIST • November 17, 2008

The debate over aid to the Detroit-based automakers is awash with half-truths and misrepresentations that are endlessly repeated by everyone from members of Congress to journalists.
Here are six myths about the companies and their vehicles, and the reality in each case.

Myth No. 1
Nobody buys their vehicles.

Reality
General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler LLC sold 8.5 million vehicles in the United States last year and millions more around the world. GM outsold Toyota by about 1.2 million vehicles in the United States last year and holds a U.S. lead over Toyota of about 560,000 so far this year. Globally, GM in 2007 remained the world's largest automaker, selling 9,369,524 vehicles worldwide -- about 3,000 more than Toyota.
Ford outsold Honda by about 850,000 and Nissan by more than 1.3 million vehicles in the United States last year.
Chrysler sold more vehicles here than Nissan and Hyundai combined in 2007 and so far this year.

Myth No. 2
They build unreliable junk.

Reality
The creaky, leaky vehicles of the 1980s and '90s are long gone. Consumer Reports recently found that "Ford's reliability is now on par with good Japanese automakers." The independent J.D. Power Initial Quality Study scored Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Mercury, Pontiac and Lincoln brands' overall quality as high or higher than that of Acura, Audi, BMW, Honda, Nissan, Scion, Volkswagen and Volvo.
Power rated the Chevrolet Malibu the highest-quality midsize sedan. Both the Malibu and Ford Fusion scored better than the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.

Myth No. 3
They build gas-guzzlers.

Reality
All of the Detroit Three build midsize sedans the Environmental Protection Agency rates at 29-33 miles per gallon on the highway. The most fuel-efficient Chevrolet Malibu gets 33 m.p.g. on the highway, 2 m.p.g. better than the best Honda Accord. The most fuel-efficient Ford Focus has the same highway fuel economy ratings as the most efficient Toyota Corolla. The most fuel-efficient Chevrolet Cobalt has the same city fuel economy and better highway fuel economy than the most efficient non-hybrid Honda Civic.
A recent study by Edmunds.com found that the Chevrolet Aveo subcompact is the least expensive car to buy and operate.

Myth No. 4
They already got a $25-billion bailout.

Reality
None of that money has been lent out and may not be for more than a year. In addition, it can, by law, be used only to invest in future vehicles and technology, so it has no effect on the shortage of operating cash the companies face because of the economic slowdown that's killing them now.

Myth No. 5
GM, Ford and Chrysler are idiots for investing in pickups and SUVs.

Reality
The domestic companies' lineup has been truck-heavy, but Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have all spent billions of dollars on pickups and SUVs because trucks are a large and historically profitable part of the auto industry. The most fuel-efficient full-size pickups from GM, Ford and Chrysler all have higher EPA fuel economy ratings than Toyota and Nissan's full-size pickups.

Myth No. 6
They don't build hybrids.

Reality
The Detroit Three got into the hybrid business late, but Ford and GM each now offers more hybrid models than Honda or Nissan, with several more due to hit the road in early 2009.

ANOTHER Stimulus Package?

on Saturday, November 8, 2008
Want to fix the economy quick? Here's how:

Everyone wants a new car!

What's the 1st thing lottery winners do?

They buy a new car!

Americans love new cars and will buy one given almost any excuse to do so.

We can fix the economy, and bailout Detroit by simply giving the car industry a good swift kick!

For starters - blowing cash around and running up the national debt even higher could well be less than bright, however this seems inevitable, so let's make sure it works this time.

The 1st stimulus package did nothing because it wasn't targeted, so the only thing that seemed to enjoy any product movement were flat screen TV's none of which are made in the United States.

Consider this:

The raw (manufacturing) cost of motor vehicles is around 65% total (including suppliers to tier 4) therefore the average unit produces an initial $13,500 in W-2 income which becomes up to $65,000 by years end due. (This isn't "magic" - it's simply how the economy works.)

Instead of a check, lets send everyone a voucher good for up to $1000 on the domestic content of a new motor vehicle.

Seeing as not everyone needs a new car, let us sell the vouchers, give them away, etc. (They would probably be all over EBay) and allow people to use as many as they could acquire, up to the full MSRP of a new vehicle.

Environment
This would freshen the national fleet;reducing emissions & increasing overall miles per gallon

Jobs
Creates more employment than any other industry, while targeting the areas of highest unemployment and foreclosure.

Strengthens the Dollar
By decreasing the number of dollars going offshore, our dollar becomes worth more reducing what we pay for other imported goods, including gas!

Nothing happens in this country until someone sells something; that is when new money enters the system.

The economy would revive in under 180 days under such a plan.

If you've read this far, thank you!
Should you still have misgivings please consider the following:

The Democrats won, and they owe the UAW (either in part or a lot!) for their national victory and several house races too. They will do something to protect that constituency and you can be sure of that.

Should you be laboring under the impression that Detroit(inc) continues to build the junk they used to - well they just don't!

And the world can be certain this commitment will remain steadfast under our next Commander-in-Chief."

Here's a few of the votes the current member of Assembly District 81 made in the past two years alone!

Make no mistake, everyone says he's a "good guy" because in fact he is!

However, lest he find himself on the outs with his own party (which is not the Democratic Party of 20 years ago) and wind up in a primary and challenged from within as his colleague in Wolcott (80th district) did this year; he has to go along with a load of bad legislation.

The problem is - we're the ones paying for it.

AN ACT CONCERNING THE TIP CREDIT

SUMMARY: Effective January 1, 2009, this act increases the minimum wage tip credit for hotel and restaurant employers from 8. 2% to 11% for bartenders and from 29. 3% to 31% for service employees (e. g. , waiters and waitresses). The tip credit allows hotels and restaurants to pay service employees and bartenders, who customarily and regularly receive tips, less than minimum wage as long as tips make up the difference. Under the act, a hotel or restaurant can pay (1) a bartender 11% less than minimum wage and (2) a waiter or waitress 31% less than minimum wage.

John Brown's Body Must Be Spinning in the Grave

The Party of Lincoln?

Less than 35% of Whites consider Blacks to be hard working?

I'm more than embarrassed by this.
Any Republican that isn't should I think, kill themselves..
...right away too!

(click on graphic for a larger easier to read version)

That the accompanying article was written by a well known leftist and political bigot, AP's Ron Fournier, (who never met a Republican he liked) gives some solace as we can pray the entire piece is flawed - and indeed it might well be.

Consider the party's history:
The founding members freeing slaves via the
Underground Railroad.
The Civil War itself,
and of course
The Civil Rights Act

But now we've somehow attracted bigots to our midst?

Purging them from the party is not enough.

There is I believe, only one rightful place for racial bigots.
Torrington native, John Brown knew where that place was.

The grave.

We must leave bigotry where it was born.
The same place that gave us the party that brought genocide to the
North American continent, the party of Andrew Jackson,
The Democrats

Authentic Republicans know this is the truth; and we know what we must do.
Mass slaughter of bigots, while a happy thought, would be messy; so we must expose bigotry and bigots - and purge them from our midst.

Palin – the Devil in disguise

09-12-2008
Source: http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/106354-palindevil-0

The candidate for the Vice Presidency of the United States of America, whose experience in small town politics, mothers´day dos and the local hockey club is her claim to fame, threatened to open the gates of Hell by attacking Russia in the event of another invasion of Georgia in a televised interview on ABC (shown today). One question for this self-opinionated upstart: Do you know what a nuclear holocaust is?

Sarah Palin, Mrs. Nobody know-it-all shreiking cow from Alaska, the joke of American politics, plied with a couple of vodkas before letting rip in front of incredulous audiences while McCain coos in the background, cuts a ridiculous figure as she strives to be taken seriously.

How can anyone whose husband is a member of the Alaska Independence Party and who is running for the Vice Presidency of the Union be taken seriously? How indeed can the Republican Party be taken seriously for not vetting this female, or have they not yet discovered the skeletons in her closet? We have.

So Sarah Palin, Mrs. Hockey Mom housewife-cum-small-town gossip merchant and cheap little guttersnipe, suppose you shut up and allowed real politicians and diplomats to do their work? Threatening Russia with a war is perhaps the most irresponsible thing anyone could do at this moment in time. Have you any idea what a nuclear holocaust is? Have you any notion of the power of Russia’s armed forces? Did you know that Russia has enough missiles to destroy any target anywhere on Earth in seconds?

And have you not forgotten, you pith-headed little bimbo from the back of beyond, that small detail about the slaughter of Russian citizens by Georgians, which started the whole debacle? So next time suppose you keep your mouth shut and while you’re at it, make sure the members of your family keep their legs shut too. Your country has enough failed mothers as it is.

What "National Health Care" Really Means

Hospitals infested with rats

Here's out it's working out in the United Kingdom

From THE SUN August 6, 2008

FILTHY hospital wards are crawling with rats, cockroaches, flies and maggots, it has been revealed.
Shock new figures show there were 20,000 separate infestations in just over two years.

Virtually every NHS trust in the country has been hit by the stomach-churning crisis.

And experts fear the legions of pests help spread infections in our hospitals — which are already battling superbugs such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile (C-diff). Cases exposed in a bombshell dossier published today by the Conservatives include:

RATS in maternity units;

COCKROACHES found on sick kids’ wards and a urology unit;

MAGGOTS in patients’ slippers and mortuaries;

WARDS “over-run” by mice and ants.

The crisis is so bad that 70 per cent of trusts had to call in pest exterminators 50 OR MORE times between January 2006 and March 2008.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust alone recorded the most incidents.

Does the above give you reason to pause?
After all, the Brits have been at this national health care for 60 years now, you would think they'd have down to science by now.

Never-the-less; our friends on the left continue their chant Healthcare NOW!!

No sense in confusing them with facts, their feeble little minds are already made up.

From The Everyday Republican

83 year old Fred Biebel, the Chairman emeritus of the Connecticut Republican Party, was hit with a small amount of bleach and water as the CTGOP delegation attempted to enter the GOP Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Biebel said that it wasn’t the worst he’s seen - saying 1968 was worse. After the altercation, he experienced shortness of breath and seemed to lose his color in the face. EMTs on the scene reviewed his condition and eventually allowed him to enter the Convention with the use of a wheelchair

From Fox (New York):

Members of the Connecticut delegation said they were attacked by protesters when they got off their bus near the Xcel Center, KMSP-TV reported. Delegate Rob Simmons told the station that a group of protesters came toward his delegation and tried to rip the credentials off their necks and sprayed them with a toxic substance that burned their eyes and stained their clothes.

One 80-year-old member of the delegation had to be treated for injuries, and several other delegates had to rinse their eyes and clothing, the station reported.

Now the task is to get those arrested shipped off to Guantanamo!

Our First Link to a Liberal Blog - Connecticut Bob

Congratulations Bob Adams

Most of the liberal blogesphere is inhabited by gutless wonders hiding behind goofy blog names and are quite unwilling to reveal their true identities under any circumstance.

With good reason!

Most of them seriously need shock therapy at the very least.

Others are undoubtedly hiding from their respective probation officers.

Judging from their writing style or the topics they choose, some are either already in some sort of re-hab,or have apparently escaped from various institutes or half-way houses.
(Or have somehow gained internet access while still inside.)

Not so in the case of Connecticut Bob.

Bob Adams is pretty good with Photo Shop, and as a result is more often than not, pretty funny even though he's always poking fun at the right.
Further, he posts under his own name.
Besides, did I mention he's usually pretty funny?

Thus as of today we're including a link to Connecticut Bob in our blog list to the right from the primary front page.
