2008 According to Uncle Jay

Coming Soon to a Calendar Near You!

on Thursday, December 25, 2008
Now that Christmas is over we should expect some of the over-the-top non-believer crowd to complain about how terribly abused they've been through yet another Christian holiday.

It must be simply awful for them after all; what with all that "Peace on Earth" business and happy people seemingly everywhere you looked.

The poor dears must be near nervous breakdowns from all the stress.

Wait till they notice what comes next!

2009 A.D.

The "A.D." stands for the Latin, "Anno Domini" or "Year of Our Lord"; as it will be 2009 years since the birth of Jesus Christ.

This of course means every time anyone in the western world writes a date that can be understood by anyone else, they'll have to use `2009' which is a sneaky way by which we wily Christians simply refuse to extract ourselves from public life.

Good heavens we must be awful!

Famous Leftist Blogger now Crisco Certified!

on Thursday, December 18, 2008

Bob Adams, the famous leftist blogger known as "Connecticut Bob" has been certified in Crisco.

It's unclear just what one does with such a certification; but you can read more about it here: Passed Crisco Certification!

Humorless lefty blog types please note: I like Bob, often despite himself.
However, he is among the few on the left with any sense of humor at all, or for that matter, any sense.

Sears

on Monday, December 15, 2008
Did you get the email?

You've probably seen this in an email or two over the past few years and ignored it.

"I assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears is treating its reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up...

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution.

I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

Pass it on."

Well it's true!

Go ahead and check it out with urbanlegands or snopes.

I figured it was time to put my money where my mouth is, so I stopped in at the West Hartford, CT Sears store.

Sears remains a decent retailer, carrying quality goods that they stand behind.

What surprised me was the condition of the West Hartford location.

It was spotless, the floor in the hardware department downstairs was easily as clean as anything one might expect in a hospital operating room.

In fact the entire store shined.

While my wife was across the street braving Westfarms Mall, I browsed around in one of the oldest Sears locations in this part of the United States.
Five times in the hour or so I spent, Sears sales associates politely said; "Good afternoon sir - can I help you find anything?"

Quality goods at surprisingly competitive or better prices.
Spotlessly clean store.
Attentive, courteous employees.

This Christmas Season, let's all shop at Sears.
No reason not to, and we should be supporting a company of their caliber.
